Skultoflower Maliumbas by Stefano Bressani: from the Art of Venice to the Nature of Los Angeles
Skultoflower Maliumbas by Stefano Bressani goes beyond sculpture: it transforms, inhabits, and lives within its space. After its debut at the Arsenale in Venice, the work found a new home in the gardens of Bel Air, Los Angeles — a journey through symbolism, matter, and transformation that mirrors the artist’s profound vision.

From the waters of Venice to the Arte Laguna Prize
The work first came to life beneath the arches of the Arsenale Nord in Venice, where it captivated the jury of the Arte Laguna Prize in the special OPEN section. This recognition opened new international horizons for both Skultoflower Maliumbas and its creator.
Following its success, the piece moved to the Molino Stucky pier, under the watchful gaze of the lagoon and an international audience — where a chance encounter with an American family would change its destiny.
The garden of Bel Air: between nature and pop culture
Skultoflower Maliumbas crossed the ocean and landed in Los Angeles, in the heart of Bel Air. There, nestled in a lush garden, it entered into dialogue with the Californian environment — sunlight, hills, and the echoes of 1980s pop culture.
A living sculpture
The piece becomes a living organism: it changes with the seasons, interacts with nature, and takes root in the soil.
At its core stands a symbolic flower — delicate yet resilient, fragile yet strong — made of industrial materials such as neoprene and corten steel.
Symbolism, matter, and metamorphosis
The geometric cube hosting the flower represents the tension between opposites: Skultoflower Maliumbas unites rigor and organicity, matter and spirit, industry and nature. It is a work in perpetual transformation, embodying the cycles of life — blooming, decay, and rebirth.

The solid stem and corten petals evoke transformation as a vital force — a hallmark of Bressani’s art, which embraces imperfection and turns it into beauty.
An endless story
From Venice to Los Angeles, Skultoflower Maliumbas becomes a bridge between cultures, memories, and landscapes. No longer a simple object, but an immersive and personal experience — a sensory narrative that evolves with each encounter, becoming part of both life and collective imagination.
