Night of Wonders Venice: Stefano Bressani pays tribute to the Pink Floyd

12 July 2014 @ 8:00 - 26 October 2014 @ 17:00

Night of Wonders Venezia

Night of Wonders Venice – Stefano Bressani honors the Pink Floyd with his Sculture Vestite

In 2014, twenty-five years after the historic Pink Floyd concert in Venice, the city celebrated the anniversary with a major international event: Night of Wonders. Hosted in the evocative space of the former Church of Santa Marta, the exhibition offered an immersive journey into the history of the British band, with photographs, videos, memorabilia, and artistic installations.

Bressani’s works in dialogue with the Pink Floyd

Among the protagonists of Night of Wonders Venice was Italian artist Stefano Bressani, known for creating Sculture Vestite. On this occasion, Bressani presented two works inspired by iconic Pink Floyd albums: The Division Bell and The Wall.

“Steel Faces”: light and fabric reinterpret The Division Bell

The installation Steel Faces, inspired by the album The Division Bell, reimagines the famous metallic heads designed by Storm Thorgerson using textile techniques. The sculptures, measuring 240×180 cm, interact with the natural light of the church, creating chiaroscuro effects that enhance the soft colors and three-dimensional forms of the work.

“What shall we do now?”: a reflective tribute to The Wall

The second work, What shall we do now?, draws inspiration from The Wall, the concept album exploring themes of isolation and inner conflict. Bressani pays homage to Gerald Scarfe’s original drawings, reinterpreting them with his sculptural technique to invite personal and contemporary reflection.

An exhibition of art, music, and memory

Curated by the association Floydseum, Night of Wonders Venice was much more than an exhibition: it was a multisensory journey that recreated the atmosphere of the Venetian concert on July 15, 1989. Featuring previously unseen materials, fan testimonies, and artworks, the exhibition highlighted the Pink Floyd’s impact on visual and musical culture.

Alongside Bressani, artists like Marco Lodola contributed with light installations inspired by The Wall, creating a powerful and emotional visual dialogue.

Art as a bridge between music and vision

Stefano Bressani’s participation underscored the role of art in giving new form to collective memory. His Sculture Vestite translate the Pink Floyd’s sound universe into visual material, bringing depth and meaning to timeless musical icons.
