Super Heroes Old School
Super Heroes Old School
The collection represents a clear tribute to the superheroes that shaped Stefano Bressani’s childhood and served as the true inspiration for the creation of the Hyper Heroes, initially commissioned by an art gallery.
The artist’s real superheroes hail from the 1970s and 1980s: a historical period when the first Japanese anime began arriving in Italy. These characters left a profound mark on the hearts of today’s fifty-year-olds, conveying strength and hope through meanings that have accompanied Bressani throughout his artistic journey.
Unlike contemporary superheroes, reimagined and transformed according to current trends and demands, those from his childhood embodied absolute values: the fight against evil and the triumph of good. Within those gigantic robots was always a man, a pilot with a precise mission: to save the world from villains.
For this reason, Bressani sought to freeze his vision of the contemporary in time, paying homage to a past that takes him back to his childhood while simultaneously projecting him into the present lives of his peers—today his most devoted collectors… though, naturally, this is merely a consequence.
