Colours of fabrics sound: Stefano Bressani at Fuori Salone 2016

During the 2016 Fuori Salone, Casa Milan hosted Colours of Fabrics Sound, an exhibition by the artist from Pavia, Stefano Bressani. The show celebrated the fusion of art, fabric, and sound, bringing to Milan ten works capable of engaging the senses in a unique experience.

Famous for his Sculture Vestite, the artist presented a symbolic and multisensory vision where fabric and sound dialogue, giving life to works charged with meaning and poetic tension.

“Maliumbas Nature Sound”: the sound sculpture

Among the most representative works of the exhibition stands Maliumbas Nature Sound (2016): a 280 cm sculpture covered in colorful fabrics and equipped with a Bose audio system. More than an art object, it is a musical instrument that embodies the artist’s synesthetic vision, merging sight, touch, and sound into one aesthetic experience.

Fabric, nails, and dynamism

Bressani’s sculptures are made from tailored fabrics assembled without seams and held together by symbolic nails. In Fighting (2016), the energy of athletic movement merges with his plastic research, bringing motion to the stage.

The contrast between rigid materials and soft textiles reveals an aesthetic built on dualities: organic/inorganic, solid/fragile — a language that escapes traditional definitions.

Between Pop Art and nature: icons and symbols

Works such as Fiat F2 and White Caddy (2014) pay homage to the automotive world, while Regal Horse and the On My Fingers series (2013–2014) introduce a natural dimension through symbols like the frog — an icon of transformation and adaptability.

An aesthetics of inconsistency

Bressani’s creative process is born from musical and instinctive impulse. His works follow no fixed scheme: they emerge from emotional suggestions and contrasts. The result is an art to be listened to, touched, and lived.
