At Mototrek 500 in Varzi, when art meets rally legend, Stefano Bressani celebrates Franco Picco with a unique Artist’s Head.

In the quiet pulse of the Oltrepò Pavese hills, where time seems to slow just enough to savor every breath, an event rich in emotion, poetry, and passion unfolded on Friday, May 12, in Varzi.
The Mototrek 500 — a 500 km journey across Lombardy, Piedmont, Liguria, and Emilia Romagna — became not just an adventure on two wheels but a journey within oneself, through landscapes of rare beauty and forgotten roads.

But this time, it wasn’t just the engines that spoke. The art of Stefano Bressani — the master of Sculture Vestite — paid tribute to a living legend of rally racing: Franco Picco, the “King of the Desert.”

For him, Bressani created and presented one of his iconic Artist’s Heads — a work woven from fabrics, colors, and forms that tell the story of a man who has challenged sand and time with heart and unyielding vision.

At 68, after twelve Paris-Dakar rallies and countless victories, Picco remains a protagonist — present at Mototrek 500 with the same determination and curiosity that have always defined him.

The encounter between Bressani and Picco was a dialogue between two worlds seemingly distant yet united in spirit: art and sport as universal languages of endurance, courage, and beauty.
Varzi, under the patronage of Mayor Giovanni Palli and the Province of Pavia, became an ideal stage where emotion, memory, and the future intertwined.

Organized by Moto Club Asfalto & Polvere, the Mototrek 500 is more than a race — it is a 14-hour, 500 km experience without a stopwatch, defined by orientation, discovery, and a love for the less-traveled path.

“I always return to Varzi with joy,” says Bressani, “a land that welcomed me as godfather of art and now allows me to leave a mark made of beauty and passion.”

He also expressed gratitude to Massimo Tamburelli, who made this encounter possible. When art meets dust and engines merge with emotion, a powerful message is born — one that speaks of dreams, challenges, and the future. In Varzi, between curves and cloth, that message came to life.
